Abstract:

Abstract: In the last few years, due to the development of the new equipment in power systems, challenges have appeared in their planning and operation. One of these issues is the development of combined heat and power (CHP) units. These units have the capability to generate heat and electricity simultaneously according to their limitations. Hence, it is necessary for them to think about the arrangements. In this dissertation, the economic dispatch of a power grid is studied with regard to heat-only units, conventional thermal units, and CHP units. For this purpose, a hybrid optimization algorithm has been used to find the optimal solution, which is derived from the ant colony and artificial bee colony algorithms. The proposed method has been simulated with MATLAB software and implemented on two sample networks. In the studied networks, all three types of units are considered. The results of the proposed method are compared with the results obtained from other methods. The results show that the proposed optimization method has more potential to find optimal solutions and leads to a lower overall cost.

Design and analysis of hybrid systems solar, wind, osmotic for green plants using ant colony optimization algorithm

Nature has always proven that it is able to overcome its problems. However, human manipulation has led to environmental degradations. The dryness of a thousand-year Urmia Lake (a brinewater lake in Iran) is an example of environmental degradation that happened due to successive droughts and construction of dams on the basin of this lake. This study examines methods for the revival of Urmia Lake...

A hybridization of evolutionary fuzzy systems and ant Colony optimization for intrusion detection

A hybrid approach for intrusion detection in computer networks is presented in this paper. The proposed approach combines an evolutionary-based fuzzy system with an Ant Colony Optimization procedure to generate high-quality fuzzy-classification rules. We applied our hybrid learning approach to network security and validated it using the DARPA KDD-Cup99 benchmark data set. The results indicate t...

Multi-objective Reconfiguration of Distribution Network Using a Heuristic Modified Ant Colony Optimization Algorithm

In this paper, a multi-objective reconfiguration problem has been solved simultaneously by a modified ant colony optimization algorithm. Two objective functions, real power loss and energy not supplied index (ENS), were utilized. Multi-objective modified ant colony optimization algorithm has been generated by adding non-dominated sorting technique and changing the pheromone updating rule of ori...
